Happy New Year!

I'm back from my holiday "vacation" and am trying to get into the swing of things here again, although I have to say that today has been one of the longest days of my life. I feel like I've been here forever (which in reality has only been something like 10 hours).

The break was nice, I didn't get any work done, and there was WAY too much family drama, but I feel like I finally got my husband to understand some fundamental things about how my graduate school experience is different from his. We were able to actually talk about how I've been discouraged that nothing works and how I've been in a funk because we're STILL waiting on an instrument to be repaired before my first paper can be submitted.

The good news is that I think I might be making some progress on the new impossible project - or at least I've found some helpful literature. It was also nice that today I really talked to the boss and felt like there was a clear goal line for the paper. Things are looking up, I think.

And now, I've had 12 hours of sleep in 3 days and am really ready to call this a day and head home.
